Jas Dhillon is an integrative therapist working online and face-to-face in Birmingham City Centre. Helping people move through life with more agency, confidence and wellbeing.

THE CLIENT EXPERIENCE

I specialise in providing empathetic and effective therapy for individuals dealing with a variety of emotional and psychological challenges. This includes helping clients manage anxiety and depression, improve self-esteem and self-confidence and navigate complex relationship dynamics. I also offer support and guidance for those coping with grief, high levels of stress, persistent sadness and anger management issues.

It’s important to say that this is a fairly arbitrary list of phrases and ‘labels’ that are commonly used in the mental health space. These terms certainly have value, but most important to my work is your unique experience of the issue, how you are affected by it, what it means to you and how I can help you with it.

hope and positive change

I have worked with adult men and women from a wide range of cultures, and ethnicities and am LGBTQ+ friendly. My approach is rooted in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their feelings, develop coping strategies, and work towards positive change.

I also work with Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), organisations and institutions, looking to support the mental well-being of the people who work for them.

WHEN YOU ARE IN PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS AND SOMEONE REALLY HEARS YOU WITHOUT PASSING JUDGEMENT ON YOU, WITHOUT TRYING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOU, WITHOUT TRYING TO MOLD YOU, IT FEELS DAMN GOOD.

TESTIMONIALS

AVAILABILITY | LOCATION | RATES

I conduct sessions throughout the week, including some evenings. The nature of counselling work means these times can vary. Please reach out and I'll be happy to share my current availability with you here.

I have extensive experience providing online therapy to clients across the UK, while also offering in-person sessions at my office in the heart of Birmingham city centre (Postcode: B16 8GZ). The convenient location is a few minutes walk from Brindleyplace and Five-Ways. It is easily accessible on foot, car or by public transport.

My standard rate is £60 for a 50-minute session. I offer a concessionary rate to students and those on low income or working part-time.

  • It can feel disheartening when you finally contact a therapist and they aren’t available for weeks or months. With this in mind, I tend to keep a fairly short waiting list if we cannot work out an appointment time that’s suitable right now. Vitally, don’t let that initial momentum dissipate, contact a few counsellors and find out when they are available.

  • Part of my training took place during the pandemic, and as a result, I learned the immense value in offering confidential, professional therapy online. Therapy purists might argue face-to-face is always better, but this option simply isn’t possible for some people. Online therapy has been a revolution, reducing barriers and making access to psychotherapy easier than ever before. I’ve worked with many clients who have changed their lives through online therapy and for them, it was the best choice.

  • I work both short and long-term, online and of course face-to-face. I believe the client should decide how many sessions they need or want. Consequently, we will often work in blocks of weeks and agree on a date for a review session ahead of time. This allows us to assess if the focus of the therapy needs to change, perhaps take a short break or even stop altogether.

With this said, the first month is the most important in developing a good relationship for therapy work, so it’s common for new clients to have a session once a week for at least four weeks.
